Wheelchair Program

Imagine being able to provide a child with physical limitations the ability to score a goal in soccer. Our pediatric wheelchair program is dedicated to doing just that.

We help children with physical disabilities participate in adaptive recreational sports that require the use of specifically designed chairs. Our program also helps relieve the financial burden an uninsured family may face in obtaining a standard or specialized wheelchair.

Adaptive wheelchairs for sports (such as tricycles) and some medical upgrades to chairs (such as the ability to stand up or go faster) are generally not covered by insurance. Our program helps families that are in need of these features. We purchase the chairs directly from the manufacturer and help facilitate delivery to the families.

Our program has donated 52 wheelchairs, supported numerous adaptive sport teams, and covered accessibility upgrades for families in need, totaling over $375,000 in support.

Signs of Possibility

Most people don’t realize the importance of specifically designed wheelchairs in helping kids achieve their dreams. Only when we understand the difference, can we truly make a difference.

So, in the days that led up to the 2024 Paralympics, we launched a campaign called “Signs of Possibility,” reimagining the standard accessible icons we see everywhere into signs of hope, to help kids reimagine their future.

The campaign went live in NYC and Boston on LINK screens, JCDecaux bus shelters, subway turnstiles, restaurants, screens at Brookfield Place and The Dan Patrick Show. At JDJ Foundation, we believe that every kid deserves to enjoy the gift of mobility.
