February 2019 Monthly Update
February was a short month packed with a lot of action for the JDJ Charitable Foundation.
Of course, our biggest event in February was Cycle for Survival on Friday, February 22nd. This was the third year in a row that Team JDJ participated in this energetic and inspirational event. 24 riders on team JDJ rode and raised $26,340 for rare cancer research. We are so proud of our team for exceeding our $25,000 fundraising goal! Funds raised by our team go directly to our research fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital: The JDJ Glioblastoma Fund, lead by Dr. Ingo Mellinghoff.
Other achievements this month include some updates to our website. Now site visitors have access to information about our medical research programs on our “Medical Research” page. We are excited to be able to post updates about our research funds at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on this page! Additionally, we will be sharing recaps and information about each of our fundraisers on our “Fundraising + Transparency” page. Also, in the spirit of transparency, our foundation has reached the Guide Star Platinum status, which shows that we are committed to the highest level of transparency.
March will prove to be another exciting month for our foundation as we launch our #MiracleMustache campaign. In honor of the late Joseph Blauvelt and Joseph Watkins, we are growing mustaches to raise money for our pediatric brain tumor research fund at CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia). Both Blauvelt and Watkins donned awesome mustaches, so we are excited to grow our own in their honor while raising money for a great cause. Those interested in participating can sign-up and find more information on our website throughout the month of March.
Additional events that our Foundation is looking forward to in March and April are our private shopping event at Shinola in TriBeCa on Tuesday, March 5th, and our Monte Carlo Fundraiser on Saturday, April 6th.
We look forward to spending “Fat Tuesday” with everyone at Shinola. Wine and special Shinola cocktails will be available to enjoy while guests get a look at all of the unique goods Shinola has to offer. We are also raffling off a Shinola watch during the event! Be sure to enter to win the watch and receive a complimentary engraving from Shinola. A portion of all sales throughout the event will go to our Foundation.
Our Monte Carlo Night at the New York Athletic Club on April 6this going to be a night guests will be sure to remember. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available on our website.
